A celebration of tradition and terroir, Mas Olivier Faugères embodies the spirit of the Languedoc's rugged landscape and unique schist soils. Although the story of this winery began in 1982, when Faugères gained its AOP status, the roots run far deeper. Established by a group of visionary winegrowers in 1959, the Mas Olivier cooperative has since grown into a powerhouse, producing over half of the region’s bottled wines and gaining a reputation for exceptional quality.
Perched 300 metres above sea level and facing the Mediterranean, Mas Olivier’s vineyards benefit from an ideal microclimate. Long, sun-soaked summers are tempered by cooler nights and heavier rainfall in spring and autumn, creating perfect conditions for Syrah and Carignan grapes to thrive. Adhering to the philosophy of lutte raisonnée and, where possible, organic practices, Mas Olivier crafts wines with a generous character, filled with ripe fruit, authenticity, and value.
This wine is a blend of 63% Syrah and 27% Carignan with smidgen of Grenache and a waft of Mouvedre, fermented traditionally in concrete vessels, with malolactic fermentation and aged in old oak barrels for 6 to 8 months. On the palate, expect rich, full-bodied flavours of dark berries and spices, with a smooth, integrated tannic structure that offers both power and elegance. The schist soils add a mineral complexity, while the Mediterranean breeze imparts a subtle freshness that lingers on the finish.
