High in the rugged Andes of Chile’s Elqui Valley, at an altitude where the air is crisp and the skies stretch endlessly, lies the Alcohuaz estate. This remote vineyard thrives under dramatic conditions—steep slopes, intense sunlight, and ancient granite soils—that shape the unique character of its wines. Among them, the Grus de Alcohuaz Mezcla Tinta stands out as a bold yet refined expression of this extraordinary terroir.
Grus is a meticulously crafted red blend of Syrah, Garnacha, Petite Sirah, and Carignan, harvested by hand and vinified using natural techniques. Fermented in open stone vats and aged in concrete eggs, it captures the purity of its origins. Each sip reveals vibrant layers of blackberries, cherries, and plums, interwoven with earthy spices, wild herbs, and a whisper of minerality. Its velvety tannins and fresh acidity create a harmonious balance, making it both approachable and endlessly intriguing.
This wine is a celebration of place, people, and passion. The Alcohuaz estate embraces minimal intervention, allowing the essence of the high-altitude vineyard to shine through. Perfect for pairing with roasted lamb, grilled vegetables, or a rich mushroom risotto, Grus de Alcohuaz Mezcla Tinta offers a taste of the Andes that lingers long after the last sip.
