The hill of Força Réal overlooking the region of Roussillon in southern France, is 507m worth of steep schist, divided into 100 m terraces. “The Royal Castle” in Catalan, Força Réal has been used over the centuries as a lighthouse and a strategic castle and lookout post. Now little more than a ruin, it casts its once regal eyes over the vineyards of Jean Boucabeille’s estate, 11 hectares of Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Macabeo. Everything in these self-contained vineyards is organically grown, worked and harvested by hand and interspersed with over 100 beehives, ponds and woodland. The vineyards were replanted at the beginning of the 70s and now create wines long, complex, elegant and with finesse. Southeast sun, Northwest winds, permeable, dry soil and the freshness of altitude force the vine roots to run deep searching for water and minerals. Biodiversity and human labour are key to Jean’s vision with every effort being made to preserve the valuable terroir. Les Terrasses Rouge is a blend of Grenache and Syrah ambiently fermented and aged in concrete. One of Jean’s entry level wines, it is floral with sweet, buttery almond notes, oodles of blackcurrant and peppery plums and just suggesting a mushroom or two. Its weight is balanced by some silky tannins and a savoury, stoney tang. This carries good heft and and if you’ve got some robust grilled meat, I reckon you’ll be happy with this Roussillon treat.

Some information about your order

Gift Wrapping & Notes

Please let us know if you would like a specific note included with your order. We tend to wrap all bottles in paper and reuse wine cases for shipping to keep our carbon footprint low.

Shipping should be automatically adjusted depending on your postcode. Free delivery covers all Liverpool postcodes, and the following Cheshire postcodes: CH41-49, CH60-63.

Find out more on our Deliveries page.

Delivery Times

We will look to have your delivery with you within 3 working days of receiving the order but please ask if you need it by a certain date and we'll do our best.

Vintages

We will endeavour to deliver vintages as advertised but they often change faster than we can update (we're pretty slow). So, again, it may be wise to confirm before ordering if you're in need of something particular. Please note: Some bottle images may not show the current vintage.

Surcharges

Surcharges often apply to deliveries outside mainland England so wise to confirm before you order. Indeed, Northern Ireland is beyond us unless shipping charges agreed beforehand.
