It’s a good sign of confidence in a plot when you’re prepared to blast out the mountainside to create vineyards. This is exactly what Eloi Durrbach did. In the craggy teeth of the Alpilles between Camargue in the south and Avignon in the north, lies Domaine De Trevallon, surrounded by glistening white limestone cliffs. Eloi’s father Rene spotted that the land would make good wine and hey presto, he was proved right. After the explosives had done their job, the majority of the vineyard was planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah as mentioned in pre-phylloxera texts was already the case. The altitude of the vineyards tempers the Provencal heat and creates fresh, bright wines with floral notes and zingy acidity. Refusing to comply with appellation regulations limiting the amount of Cabernet Sauvignon to 20%, Eloi established a cult following for his 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah blend despite it “just” being a Vin de Pays. Expect from this iconoclastic winemaker, who has no formal oenological training, a wine that is spicy and peppery with cinnamon nods showing liquorice and ripe black fruits. The Syrah mellows the tannins giving a velvety finish with the vein of acidity keeping things fresh. Shows the results possible with gut instinct, belief, limestone and a few sticks of dynamite.

Shipping should be automatically adjusted depending on your postcode. Free delivery covers all Liverpool postcodes, and the following Cheshire postcodes: CH41-49, CH60-63.

We will endeavour to deliver vintages as advertised but they often change faster than we can update (we're pretty slow). So, again, it may be wise to confirm before ordering if you're in need of something particular. Please note: Some bottle images may not show the current vintage.
